Benefits of Hardwood

We all know there are many hardsurface alternatives to Hardwood, such as Laminate, Luxury Vinyl and more. In an industry where the look-alikes are growing every day, is Hardwood still relevant? The answer is a resounding, “YES!”

Benefits of Hardwood

  • They Enhance the Look of Your Home. Wood floors not only add a touch of elegance to your home, but also a bit of warmth. Some can even make a space look bigger. Suitable for so many spaces, hardwood can enrich almost any room with its unique personality and beauty…And a true hardwood floor always makes a great first impression.
  • Unbeatable Look. No matter how many styles the look-alikes come out with, they can’t beat the beauty that goes deeper than the surface. Hardwood has an unmatched richness and versatility to be found in the available colors, grains, textures, and finishes of hardwood flooring. No matter your style – contemporary, traditional, somewhere in-between – there’s a hardwood out there to fit your home.
  • Low Maintenance. Hardwood floors are incredibly easy to keep clean. With routine maintenance such as sweeping, vacuuming (avoid beater bars!), and an occasional damp mop with hardwood floor cleaner, you can keep them looking rich and beautiful for years to come.
  • Restorable. Nobody wants to invest in a new floor only for its radiance to be lost under the wear and tear of daily life – which is why hardwood is the perfect choice for active families. Solid floors can be sanded, refinished, and even re-stained; engineered floors can be buffed and recoated; and oil-finished wood can be refreshed in record timing. Hardwood flooring is irrevocably the easiest floor to touch up and restore to its original beauty.
  • It Adds Value to Your Home. Thanks to the practicality and longevity associated with hardwood, many home buyers are willing to pay more for a hardwood flooring. Installing these rich floors in your home will add beauty, practicality, and value to your home.

Finding the Right Hardwood for You.

When choosing hardwood, the color, character, and construction type are the important factors to consider.
  • Color: The color of hardwood floors ranges from quite light to intensely dark—and everything in between. You can choose from neutral tones, rich colors, deep textures and brushed looks. While, as a rule of thumb, lighter floors work well in contemporary settings and darker floors are elegantly at home in more traditional rooms, choosing is essentially a matter of preference.
  • Character: Naturally present in hardwood, grain variations help determine a wood’s “personality.” Dramatic grain suggests a rustic feeling, and moderate grain variations are often associated with the traditional. Hardwood with very little graining has a sleek, clean, contemporary look.
  • Construction: There are two basic choices—solid or engineered. Solid planks are created from a single piece of wood and make a handsome floor that lasts for years. Engineered planks are made from several layers of wood (with a core of plywood or HDF) and have more structural stability to combat climate factors. This means they can go in some rooms that solid floors can’t.
